Evaluation

At the start of my FMP I was unsure what to base my project on and what final piece to create. I researched in to many different areas including way finding, infographics, branding, sports, place and memory… In previous research I was curious to understand how people explored and behaved in public spaces and how this was a reflection of todays society. After various experiments documenting peoples behaviour, I found that these were not leading me to anything I was not already aware off. This is when I thought of taking it a step further and began to research how films reflect society and how they influence on modern life. From here the aim was to focus not on individual films, but on the directors themselves, seeing as they are the ones responsible for shaping these motion pictures and reflecting on how society think and behave. I decided to push myself in to something more commercial than I am use to and decided to design a retrospective screening for Stanley Kubricks films.

I felt like I got stuck researching too much, which lead me to not having enough time to develop my final piece to a standard which I would be completely satisfied with. I believe that the concept of my final piece is well researched and very strong although the visuals could have been pushed a little further. Overall I am happy with the concept of my FMP which show thorough researching and understanding of Kubricks ethos which is one of the aim aims of my project. The final piece reflects the concept well although it could be slightly stronger visually.

The idea is to design tickets in the form of a wristband like you get when you are a patient in hospital. These wristbands will promote and make the audience feel part of the show.

Focusing on three Kubrick films; The Shining, A clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut. In these films Kubrick reports on human nature and shows the evil side of humans through a character that is a psychopath, another who is a sociopath and another who becomes obsessive and compulsive (OCD). The three images show the ‘Kubrick stare’ which shows humanities dark side.
